It's just plain nuts and incredibly dangerous. Makes me glad to live in Australia, although I realise that the flow on effects may eventually come to our shores. I did enjoy your paraphrasing of JFK at the end..... a bright spark in otherwise dark times.
USA has become an asylum and the inmates are in control. I hope that other countries are establishing their strategies to mitigate the disease risk from U S residents.
Tricky. So dependent on responses to the idiocy, and whether we get new viral plagues in the next decade or two. These things tend to move fairly slowly, but as the herd immunity declines and dips below the HIT, so the likelihood of ongoing spread and spillover into other populations increases. And they may not be static either. Wars and plagues tend to walk hand in hand (cf. https://www.bmj.com/content/381/bmj.p963 ) For example, when Russia finally attacks Europe, who knows what will transpire?
